Get to know your FLIR FX (sports case)

Sports camera setup

To get the maximum battery life from your camera, it is recommended to charge the camera for at least 2 and a half hours before installing the sports case.

To put the camera in the sports case:

  1. Slide the open button and pull the latch open from behind the triangle to open the latch.

  2. Place the camera inside the case with the FLIR logo facing the opening.

  3. Close the case and push the latch forward to lock it.
    NOTE: Make sure the latch is completely locked to ensure a waterproof seal.
  4. To mount the camera, screw the case onto the included 3M surface mount and peel the adhesive to stick the camera to objects.

NOTE: You can also use standard 1/4"-20 camera tripods or accessories to mount the camera in the sport case. You can swap the ball and socket stand between mounts. To remove the ball and socket, unscrew the thumbscrew all the way and pull the ball and socket out of the mount.

Sports Recording

Turn camera on/off

Press the power button to turn on the camera. Press and hold to turn off.

NOTE: Camera will beep 3 times and shut down if the battery is empty.

Record a video

Press and hold the REC button on top to start recording. The camera will make a sound and the REC LED will flash red. Press the rec button to stop recording.

NOTE: If microSD card is full, the camera will beep and stop recording.

Take a photo

Press the REC button on top to take a photo. Camera will make a shutter sound.

View recordings

You can review the photos or videos in the app through the Manual recordings or Photos section.

To view the recordings on a PC or Mac, connect the microSD card to the computer or connect the camera to the computer with the USB cable and no stand attached. Manual recordings are saved to the USER folder on the microSD card, and photos are saved to the PHOTO folder.

Sports case overview

  1. Record Button: Press to take a photo. Hold to start and stop video recording.
  2. Lens Cover: Clean the lens cover with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh or chemical cleaners to clean the lens cover as they can damage the plastic.
  3. Microphone: Not used when camera is in sport case.
  4. Speaker: Not used when camera is in sport case.
  5. Thread: Attach the sport case to the included 3M surface mounts. Also works with standard 1/4”-20 compatible tripods or accessories

  6. WiFi Button: Use to toggle between Cloud and Direct/Hotspot mode. Press and hold for 5 seconds to turn off WiFi for increased battery life. Press for 1 second to turn WiFi back on.
  7. Power Button: Press the power button to turn on the camera. Press and hold to turn off the camera.

  8. MicroSD (On Camera): Store more with an 8GB to 64GB microSD card. Class 10 card required.
  9. MicroUSB (On Camera): Easily recharge your FX.
  10. Latch: Open and close the sport case. Make sure the case is completely locked to ensure a waterproof seal.

  11. Direct/Hotspot Mode LED: View live video or recordings on the microSD card directly from FLIR FX without an Internet connection.
    NOTE: Live video is disabled when the camera is recording.
  12. Cloud Mode LED: Flashes when the camera is attempting to connect to a WiFi network, glows when camera is connected to a WiFi network.

  13. 3M Surface Mount: Attach the camera to a surface for sporting activities.
  14. Thumbscrew: Tighten to secure the camera position. Loosen to remove ball and socket from stand.
  15. 3M Adhesive: Peel to stick the mount to a surface.
