Q: Does the FLIR FX have night vision?

A: Yes, the FLIR FX has infrared (IR) night vision up to 33ft (10m) in total darkness. The outdoor housing adds additional night vision range up to 65ft (20m).

Q: Does the FLIR FX have an IR cut filter?

A: Yes, the FLIR FX includes an IR cut filter to provide accurate color in both daytime and nighttime conditions.

Q: My camera is clicking when the night vision turns on. Is this normal?

A: Yes, the clicking occurs when the IR cut filter engages or disengages and indicates it is working normally.

Q: I see a bright ring in the nighttime picture. What is causing this?

A: This is caused by the camera being installed behind a window. The IR light from the camera will reflect off the glass and cause glare in the nighttime image.

If you would like to monitor an outdoor area, it is recommended to install the camera in the outdoor housing. It is possible to disable the in the night vision in the camera by changing Infrared Activation to Off in the Settings menu. However, this means you will not get a picture if there is not enough light.

Q: Does the night vision work if I am using the sport case or dash mount?

A: The IR LEDs are automatically disabled when the camera is connected to the dash mount or if it is not connected to any stands.
