Thank you, this helped a lot ! Bought two FX's camera's was going to buy the outdoor enclosure's accessories, but not now ! Not really happy with the FX's camera's anyway ,This all-in one system is NOT that great , they overemphasize what the camera can really do. Wish l bought an other system . RDHibbs

This is a hard review to write. This camera housing is gorgeous, tough and functional. It's extremely well designed and engineered. I love it.
What I don't currently love though is the limited night vision. With just the camera itself I can't see the fence at 21 feet from the camera. (A far cry from the 33 feet that they advertise.) So I had to supplement with motion detector spot lights. But when my wife's car was broken into at 30 feet from the camera, and all I had were images of a dark silhouette, I decided to get the outdoor housing. (Previously it was mounted outside to the wall, under our covered front porch.)
So I thought all our problems would be over once we got the outdoor housing, but the viewable night distance was immediately disappointing. It's advertised to view up to 65 feet, but I still can't see past the fence at 21 feet. Good news though... at least I can finally see the fence.
The spot lights are still doing their job assisting the Flir FX, but images at 30 feet are still not acceptable enough to clearly identify a suspect.
I guess I'll put the blame where I think it lies. There's only 4 IR lights on the outdoor housing. And they're small. My neighbor paid a lot less for his outdoor security DVR cameras, and they're COVERED in IR lights. I feel embarrassed by how much I paid for mine, ($200 camera, $80 housing) and yet my night images are still so poor.
